New Magazine.. BLOKE! sweeps the market...as Bryan poses nude on the cover

                                                                 BLOKE
On the 23 RD of September 2011, it’s raining men...

A bloke is generally perceived, as a ‘man’s man’; suave, stylish, good looking, confident and successful. He is sensitive as he is strong and he has the ability to make women hang on his every word. While some women fall over themselves to get his attention others are repulsed by this perfect larger than life image. It is from this already controversial standpoint that BLOKE builds its platform; a synergy of gender and relationship issues from a man’s mind
BLOKE MAGAZINE simply is ‘the Complete Man manual’; an intense and totally cosmopolitan magazine with a strong bias for relationship, sex, gender issues and of course, fashion; BLOKE provides a complete lifestyle directory dripping with rich masculine tenor and served with an unmistakeable feminine appeal. Drawn from the perspective of the quintessential man, BLOKE brings to the reader a thoroughly entertaining, yet highly enlightening package, laced with witty humour and light-hearted sexual banter.
The single, married, student and professional woman between the ages of 21 – 45, will find a valuable companion in BLOKE.

IT’S EDGE
It’s a new and fresh perspective to all the millions of questions women want to ask the men in their lives. Many magazines have generally attempted to bridge the gap between men and women as it concerns intimate relations. International blockbusters such as GQ©, Cosmopolitan©, FHM© etc have all been successful in addressing a vast number of gender issues. What none of these publications have been able to do is not just act as umpire in the age long ‘battle of the sexes’, but authoritatively create a pathway through the maze of complexities and uncertainties that have become the hallmark of modern relationships.
IT’S APPEAL
While retaining a flavour that the male folk will embrace as its very own, being that BLOKE is birthed by the male psyche, its designed and packaged to ultimately appeal to the feminine market. Ours is an iconic product brandishing an unmistakable sexual tenor. Building its adroit perspectives from scientific research- medical, psychological and socio-cultural, yet keeping the language simple and engaging, thereby making for a very relaxing read. The BLOKE personality is witty and smart; borrowing copiously from everyday pun and intelligent humour.
BLOKE is also committed to consistently delivering one of the most attractive magazines on the stand, one that readers would be proud of.

Like we always say – finally, a BLOKE everywoman can call their own.

BLOKE is published bi-monthly by AVENUE3 PRESS & PUBLISHING.

The invite only opening night will include a performance by the Nigerian Soul singer Bez and on subsequent days by DJ Effizzi will be on the spin machine.

This exploration of the Emmy Collins brand will provide the attendee a snapshot into what lurks in the designer’s mind, what inspires his brand of Fashion and the unique opportunity to take a journey through the evolution of the brand. Progressive interpretations of fashion, represented in the Emmy Collins collection, will be available in 200 unique designs to sate the appetite of even the most persnickety and discriminating buyer.

Ben Bruce, because of his singlehanded revolution of the Nigerian entertainment industry, is one of the men I am most impressed with in Nigeria …and it takes quite a lot to impress me. Kudos to Silverbird’s Jide Asuma as well for his professionalism and love for the arts. This truly is a collaboration made in heaven.”

Other partners in the Emmy Collins Style Weekend include Aero Contractors, Africa’s reliable and e-innovative airline, operating scheduled flights to major cities in Nigeria and Accra Ghana.

IS THIS PHOTOSHOP OR SKIN CHANGE? MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL IN NIGERIA 2011 NEW PHOTOS RAISE EYEBROWS

Sylvia Nduka
since the release of the most beautiful girl in Nigeria 2011 contest, Sylvia Nduka  latest pictures, there have been a lot of controversy. Her skin appeared to have 'transformed' to a much lighter one. Some of those who have seen the photos think she must have gone through a process which in normal street English is known as 'bleaching'
Those who believe that she had to be lighter to become a Miss World were countered the recent victory of Miss Angola,a black African beauty who won the Miss Universe contest.
A model told gistmaster over the phone this afternoon that there seems to be more demand for fair skinned models and I bet she want to put herself on the good side once she is out of the contest her vision is to take model as a serious work. "People should leave Sylvia alone" she said

Timeless, Classy … Gene

BY OYINDAMOLA LAWAL

Genevieve Nnaji, the ‘Julia Roberts of Africa’ as stated by CNN, is no doubt an epitome of beauty and brain. With her latest movie ‘Mirror Boy’ premiered in London and her appearance on CNN and Naomi Campbell’s Fashion For Relief event in April, the Nollywood actress has up her ante.
The Face of MUD and the brain behind ST. Genevieve has over the years defined her style as simple, sophisticated and classy. According to her, “style is personality. It is an expression of individualism mixed with charisma. Simply put, style is the real you.”

Grecian-inspired plait
Genevieve was spotted recently in a trendy Grecian-inspired plait and a stunning outfit dress

Rock it well
Gene definitely knows how to put different trends together. She recently graced a red carpet event in a gorgeous jewel toned dress. The screen goddess also did the impossible by mixing teal and nude together. One would have thought the two colours would not go perfectly, but Gene mixed them and they matched well.

Neutral colours
One of the colours that perfectly suit Genevieve is neutral. With a gold detail on the waist and a semi-plunging neckline, she can never go wrong.

Casual, yet sexy
Her birthday casual look was glamorous. She tried hard to look like a ‘birthday girl’ yet appeared sexy.

Hourglass figure
Gene’s hourglass figure gives her a sexy look. Her shape flatters any woman. If in doubt, look for clothes that nip in at the waist or draw attention to that area.

Simpler can be better
The simplest outfits are often the best. Gene‘s look is appreciated not for the clothes a lone, but because of the personalities wearing them.
Sometimes, it’s nice to keep your outfit simple. It offers you the chance to leave lasting impression on the scene.

.

Be yourself, be authentic

As cliched as it may sound; to be elegant, you have to be authentic. You don’t have to workout yourself to look glamorous; from Genevieve’s make-up to her outfit and accessories, she always make a bold fashion statement.

Quality

Quality is essential to elegance. Aim for it. Going for quality products is not being extravagant, for they last long and may end up being cheaper. The rule of thumb for shopping for elegant dresses is to stick to quality stuffs and to buy only what you love. Genevieve’s favourite designers are Christian Louboutin, Jidz, Zed eye, Jewel by Lisa and Lulu Frost.

Quintessentially, Naturally AY

BY OYINDAMOLA LAWAL

ONE of Nigeria’s comedy’s golden boys and multiple award-winning artiste, Ayo Richard Makun, popularly known as AY, is a cool dude who knows what good looks is all about. He always makes the ‘wow factor´ each time he graces the red carpet.
A factor that has put him ahead of his contemporaries in style is his use of accessory; with which he has created his personal identity.
“Style is really a blend of what you wear and how you carry yourself,” he says.

Letting AY groove

Look natural and distinct
Try to look good in natural and distinctive way. Always look good when you are out of your home. Make it an attitude rather than a set of codes and with time, it defines your person.

Define your style
“Style is a combination of innovative ideas that must standout in the crowd,” he says.  “It’s the incorporation of well guided colours and trends that defines my personality.”
Invest in shoes
The first thing often noticed in a man is his shoes. It says a lot about how you pay attention to the minute details. For AY, his shoes are his favourite fashion pieces. “I’m a strong believer in having quality shoe wardrobe. Having a classic shoe wardrobe is very important for anybody that is in my kind of business,” he adds. “They help to define my class whenever I’m on stage.  Shoes are great investments. If you buy quality shoes, they will last for a long time.”

Wonders of accessories
Clothes may complete your look, but accessories complete your clothes; so, they are very important for your wardrobe.  Basic accessories such as belts, wristwatches, hats and sunglasses can lift your look from drab to fab; hence, they are must-haves in the wardrobe. “My favourite accessories start from my sunglasses, which help to enhance my overall personality. My belt and wristwatch also help to liven up my ensemble,” he enthuses.

Get a well-detailed designer
“Yomi Casual is my favourite designer. He also doubles as one of my stylists. He pays attention to details. The very minute I get on the red carpet the presenters are usually the first set of people to tell me what I am wearing because they always recognise his very unique and creative designs.”

Bulgaria and Guess it is
When it comes to sunglasses, Bulgaria wins AY’s heart. He adds, “the frames are well crafted with intricate details. They help create a level that transcends time and passing trends. More so, I don’t play with my leading lifestyle collection of Guess wristwatches because of their high standards aside maintaining a driving artistic force in the fashion world.”

Let your fashion pieces compliment the occasion
“I honestly cannot tell which is the most expensive fashion item in my closet. They may or may not worth all the dollars, pounds and Naira, but the most important thing is that they are worth all the compliments that I get on different occasions.”

Take your red carpet look serious
AY believes that the red carpet is a place where fashion rules must be taken seriously; so, he tries so hard to keep on point without necessarily trying to over-impress. He says, “But I always coordinate myself by dressing to suit the occasion.”

Let your occasion speak
Always remember there’s a time and place for everything. Dress according to the occasion and dress code. The occasion determines Ay’s look.

Good to have a stylish spouse
“My wife is my stylist and with her Midas touch, my style turns to instant fashion statement.”

Fashion faux pas?
“Brown shoes on black belt, too many colours on a guy could be irritating. More so, people should stop wearing winter clothes during summer or wearing socks in a sandal.”

The power of Johnson
My same old Baby Pearls and my traditional Johnson and Johnson powder from the day my mum gave birth to me has been my power.

Place comfort before fashion
Always place comfort before fashion. Comfort is important both at the physical and emotional level. “Wow people with your taste and individuality, not your spending power. Designer clothes are great; they keep you in style and up on the current trends, but choose your pieces based on how they look on you, not just for the label. Considered as one of the best-dressed celebrity comes with a good feeling. The last time I got that was when I won the best-dressed student in Delta State University back to back for two years. Taking it too seriously might ruin your ensemble.  But I always do my best to look great by keeping it classic or trendy.”

Mix 'n' Match
The ability to mix and match colours makes a man even more appealing. For AY, “My favourite colour is blue. Blue is calming, it can be strong and steadfast or light and friendly. Almost everyone likes some shade of the colour.”

Shop anywhere
“My fashion shopping is done anywhere.  From online to the street of Lagos and any country I visit.” He continues, “my favourite shopping boutiques are Westminster UK, Zara shop in UK and Yomi Casual showroom, Aguda, Surulere, Lagos.

 Always smell good
A man who smells good is an added bonus to being well dressed. AY loves Paco Rabanne One Million Fragrance
