Rob Pruitt for Jimmy Choo Resort 2013 Collection

A contemporary fantasy emerged last October when Jimmy Choo unveiled the first capsule collection by artist Rob Pruitt, whose illustration and fantasy creates a brand new era of fashion.  The display of spectacular colors in dégradé (seen here on the Choo Anouk pump) is just the beginning of a cruisewear phenomenon.  Pruitt's collection includes ombre leopard prints, booties of sparkly zebra stripe and special handbags muraled with panda bears.  “The panda is an international symbol that reminds us both to tread lightly and to appreciate the adorable”, explained the master of graphic illustration, displaying obvious affection for the endangered animals – so much that he created the dynamic Angel/Devil panda clutches, featuring more than 11,000 Swarovski crystals in black, white and bordered with color; did we mention each is applied by hand?  The astonishing, minaudière clutch bags are dressed with a leather lining and limited to 14 pieces each worldwide.

Rob Pruitt modeled the collection's shoe soles after his recently established abstract paintings.  Gaining popularity in the 1980's, the artist gratefully welcomed the idea of hot, bright graphics on cruise footwear, handbags and daytime accessories from t-strap jelly sandals, zip-around wallets to a leopard print luggage tag.  A truly memorable capsule, Rob Pruitt cruisewear is a walk through a museum of astonishing art, invention and of course, the iconic luxury that is Jimmy Choo.
