BY OYINDAMOLA LAWAL
PECHA Kucha, a Japanese outfit, recently gathered professionals in architecture, graphic design, brand, photography and art to Pecha Kucha Vol 3 to raise funds for the victims of Japanese tsunami and earthquake.
Tagged, Inspire Japan, the event, which held at Terra Kulture, Lagos, was replicated in 394 cities across the globe.
According to Japan-based Nigerian designer, Gozi Ochonogor, who introduced Pecha Kucha to the country, the event aims to serve as a platform for professionals in different fields involved in design, including fashion to mingle and exchange ideas.
She said: “Japan has inspired the creative world for many generations; it’s now time for the world to inspire Japan to rebuild its country from the ruins of the devastation. We want everyone to know that the world is with them in their troubles.”
Co-sponsored by Martini drinks, the event showcased the works of 10 designers that ranged from architecture, graphics, illustrations, product design, photography and art.
Initiated by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham in Tokyo, in 2003, Pecha Kucha has served as a platform for designers to meet, network, and showcase their works to the public across the globe
