Lanre DaSilva Ajayi Capsule Collection For Pitti Immagine Trade Show In Florence, Italy





Fashion designer Lanre DaSilva Ajayi popularly know as LDA is currently in Florence for the Pitti Immagine Trade Show in Florence, Italy.

This year, Pitti Immagine W included Nigeria as guest nation in cooperation with Lagos Fashion Week, designers from the country have been included to its list of dedicated space to the new names on the international creative and economic scene from emerging nations to stimulate exchange and further mutual knowledge and understanding.

The tradeshow runs from the 19th- 22nd of June 2012.

LDA has been making rounds internationally in the last one year.
On the 4th of may 2012, Vogue Italia and yoox.com's special project (Discovered in Africa by Vogue Italia exclusively on yoox.com), came live and opened for everyone to shop from the beautiful collections by going online directly to the yoox website. This project one of Franca Sozzani, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Italia and the Fashion for Development Goodwill Ambassador who has the task to promote the development in emerging countries through fashion.

Earlier in January this year, Sozzani had visited Nigeria to create a network of small and medium-size businesses which would have not been feasible without the input and assistance of Mr Kola Karim, CEO of Shoreline Energy International a well meaning business man who facilitated for LDA be part of the Discovered in Africa by Vogue Italia project.

Thanks to Fashion for Development, LDA?s designs has a real opportunity to be seen and appreciated globally.

In May this year, the LDA brand was featured in L'Uomo Vogue, May-June 2012- ?Rebranding Africa? Issue dedicated to Africa to show how this continent is moving and developing while trying to get out of a difficult situation of poverty and illness.  LDA was featured along side influential personalities such as Presidents, First Ladies, and Queens, artists, writers, musicians, designers and models, according to Vogue ?they are the evidence that Africa is developing and progressing continuously and that only showing its positive side we can change the perception of collective imageries and make it attractive for the production not only of fuel but also of fashion, cinema and tourism. Rebranding Africa is important for the future of this continent and for the millions of young people that live in it?.

LDA as you already know creates pieces that are unique in style and combines pattern, print, exquisite and even traditional fabrics to produce day wear, evening wear, gowns and cocktail dresses that bridge time and make the label successful. The brand has been featured in various African and international media including L'Uomo Vogue, Vogue Black, ARISE Magazine, Daily Mail, Essence.com, WWD.com, ITN News, NTN24.com, ABCNews.com, Reuters UK and Centric/BET.

Every year, LDA produces six major collections and has showcased locally in Nigeria and internationally including the Thisday Africa Rising Festival, London (October 2008), ARISE Africa Fashion Festival, South Africa (June 2009) and the New York Couture Fashion Week (September 2009), Arise Magazine Fashion Week, Lagos (March 2011) and the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Spring 2012 Made in Africa by Arise magazine, (September 2011) and Arise magazine Fashion Week, Lagos March 2012.
