Nigerians Threaten To Protest Over Fake ID Cards

PDF Print E-mail

Some Nigerians living in Ghana have threatened to protest over fake identification (ID) cards being issued to them by the Nigeria High Commission in Ghana. They claimed that the High Commission took seven Ghana cedis each from them to provide them identification cards.
They alleged that all attempts to put their concerns across have proved futile.

The Spokesperson for the aggrieved Nigerians Francis Okproko, told Citi News if the High Commission fails to address their concerns, they will hit the streets.

‘‘They were asked to pay 7 GH Cedis each to get them registered for an ID card.
And they were told that this ID card will give them security in terms of banking, travelling from one country to the other amongst others.
But at the end of the day after collecting the monies from them, they realised that the ID cards are worthless. " he added, ‘‘We are here in this country Ghana, where people are being registered freely in a similar manner, so why in the case of Nigeria they have to collect monies amounting to about 400 million cedis around the whole country."

All attempts to get the authorities of the Nigeria High Commission to hear their side of the story prove futile.
